Resolution Advocating for Immigration Ministry

 

Whereas, throughout its history, the UCC has been engaged in ministries of compassion, advocacy and reconciliation; and

Whereas, there is a deep respect in the UCC for the rights of every individual.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Peace and Justice Team of First-Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ urges the Nebraska Conference of the United Church of Christ to advocate for the following:

1. Encourage local churches and their members to involve themselves in the life transforming ministry of refugee resettlement and immigration asylum; and

2. Demonstrate hospitality at the local level by offering services that meet daily needs, including assistance with housing, employment, language training and other emerging needs.
