Each Sunday one congregation of the Nebraska Conference is designated for prayers of concern and support by the other Conference churches and their members.
July 13----- Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, Plattsmouth...................... Rev. Gene Loftis
July 20----- United Church of Christ, Purdum.................... Pastor Judy Cook
We want to send a big "Thank You" to all who sent 100th. Birthday greetings or found time to attend our celebration on November 4th.
Your notes, letters and pictures are going into our history scrapbook, and again thank you. We celebrate the fact that we are a small
church, with deep friendship. We celebrate our "Tuesday Lunch" as it builds community. We celebrate our ELM student, Diana. We
celebrate life!
With churches across the state and nation, we pray for "peace in our world". We pray for our sons and daughters and grandsons and grand
daughters who serve in Iraq, and for all military persons to return to us soon. We also pray for the Nebraska Conference as we move into
a different and exciting future. We depend upon God's mercy, and the Holy Spirit's guidance as we continue on the way of Christ.
July 27----Ralston United Church of Christ.............................Pastor Lynette Janssen
For 17 years at Ralston, Nebraska, the four local churches have joined together each summer for an ecumenical Vacation Bible School.
After discussion among the churches this year, the group VBS idea was abandoned and now Ralston UCC is the only church in Ralston
to have a VBS format. Each day of the "Son Harvest--County Fair" curriculum was divided into two days with a fun day in between and a
Summer VBS Sunday School was developed. It is offered during the same time frame each Sunday as the regular worship service at 10 am.
We ask your prayers for the leaders and the children of this faith inspiring adventure.
"From Yesterday, We Build Tomorrow" The Ralston UCC's original sanctuary and building will be 60 years old in 2009 and the new sanctuary will be 17 years old
then, so we have formed a Capital Improvement Committee and our past becomes our future. While we've made great strides in updating and
modernizing our systems and equipment, the physical structure continues to show the ravages of time. This committee is beginning to address the "visions"
that need to be accomplished. We ask for your prayers for this project that our edifice can continue to be used to glorify God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pies! Pies! and more Pies!! If anyone has a free evening on August 2, there will be a car show in downtown Ralston with all the proceeds going to the American
Cancer Society. The Ralston UCC is having "homebaked pie and ice cream" in conjunction as a fundraiser. Fill your eyes with good sights and your
stomachs with GREAT food! Hope to see you!
August 3----Riverton Congregational Christian........................Rev. Baron and Rev. Nancy Cole
August 10----Rockville United Church of Christ......................Pastor Wesley Stevens
August 17----First Congregational United Church of Christ, Scribner
We recently celebrated our 135th. Anniversary. We are an elderly church and are really struggling with membership and need the prayers.
August 24----First Congregational United Church of Christ, Seneca.......................Rev. Linda L. Martin
September 7----Friedens United Church of Christ, Seward....................................Rev. Alvin Smith
September 14----New England Congregational UCC, Stanton...............................Pastor Mary Beth Cross
This year we celebrated 128 years of completed ministry in Stanton County. We are the church of the community, all are welcome here. We house the food
pantry. The free clinics meet under our roof as do youth and other community civilities. We pray for guidance as we continue to minister in the 21st century.
September 21----Salem United Church of Christ, Steinauer...................................Rev. Jerry Hambleton
